We’ve trained all our staff and we won’t use it?

We’ve been producing Online Video Tutorials for years now (nearly 130 years when you put our ages together) and we’ve heard of a number of situations where staff do not use the systems and content for whatever reason and this is how we see it.

Sometimes, although it’s rarer and rarer these days, a single stakeholder makes a decision to bring in an online content library without conversing with the end users or the business (to understand specific training needs). In these scenarios, it’s no surprise that uptake can be very low.

At the end of the day, we firmly believe it’s down to how the customer presents and promotes the learning to the end users.

NB: there are some great articles out there regarding what L&D can learn from marketing.  Take a look, you’ll be glad you did.

How can Mi Crow help?

We’ve found that if you simply launch the system by way of information on your LMS or by email notification there is an exceptionally high probability that the system will not be used.  Of course there are many reasons why they won’t, not to mention that a person simply didn’t know about it because they didn’t read the email.

In order to prevent this, you need to regularly communicate with your user base. Communication could be by way of a regular email or by promoting a particular video which you know will be of interest and value to your audience – always remembering that just because you send somebody an email it doesn’t necessarily mean that they’ll read it.

The question we often get back is that ‘we know that we need to do all of this work, but we simply don’t have the resources?’

We help with this by offering support in the form of our User Engagement Programme – a fully customised solution that automatically interacts with end users (so you can be rest assured that users are being communicated with on a regular basis). Frequently, others in our industry, ourselves included, are providing free consultancy support such as e-learning books, free ‘how to’ guides and much more besides.  At the end of the day we want the launch of your e-learning to be a success.  Your success is our success, so we’ll do as much as we can to support you through the early barriers.
